FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need my own bass to start lessons?
No, I'd be happy to lend you one of my basses to start with, upon request. I have several electric basses as well as an additional double bass available for rent.
Do I have to prepare anything upfront?
No, you don't need to prepare anything. We can get to know each other personally and musically in the first lesson, and I'll give you your first ideas and exercises.
What should I bring to the lessons?
I recommend bringing a notebook (A4) for writing down homework assignments, etc., and a folder for organizing printed worksheets. If you have your own books or teaching materials, you are welcome to bring them. I have a wide selection of teaching materials and lessons and exercises that I have created myself.
Is there an option for a free trial lesson?
Yes, I offer the first session (25 min.) for free.
Is there an option for online lessons?
Currently, I'm refraining from online lessons. I prefer in-person lessons, especially for beginners, as they often require a lot of correction to their fingers and arm/body posture. If it's occasionally unavoidable, individual lessons can take place online.
How does the payment work?
Block or semester fees must be paid in advance. Individual lessons must also be paid in advance by bank transfer, or in cash at the beginning of the lesson.
Do I have to read sheet music?
No, it's generally not necessary for you to be able to read music. I can gladly record the exercises for you or notate them using tabs. The entire lesson or just the exercises with instructions can also be filmed so you can review what we've discussed at home without a need for sheet music.
